Sargocentron tiere

IUCN Red List Status : LC (Least concern)

Generally red with iridescent blue stripes (more evident on lower side), and red spinous dorsal fin with white tips and white streaks on middle part.

Occurs along exposed reef margins and outer reef slopes. Has been observed at depth of 183 m in Hawaii. Benthopelagic. Secretive during the day and hides in holes and crevices of surge channels. Feeds at night on crustaceans, crustacean larvae, polychaete worms, and small fishes. Spine of preopercle venomous.

Recorded from Raja Ampat Islands and Togean and Banggai Islands; with an Indonesian distribution from Papua to Sulawesi
