Myripristis kuntee

Scientific Name : Myripristis kuntee
Maximum length : 19cm, although usually under 15cm
IUCN Red List Status : LC (Least concern)

Orange-red with silvery white scale centres, red fins (except pectorals) with narrow white margins, and dusky brown band along rear edge of gill cover.

Forms loose groups. Lives in subtidal reef flats, also in lagoon and seaward reefs below the surge zone to depths of at least 26 m. Often occurs in large aggregations during the day in areas of rich foliaceous or cavernous coral growth. Benthopelagic. Feeds on plankton such as crab larvae. Caught at night.

Found from Bali Strait to Timor Sea. Also recorded from Raja Ampat Islands, Manado and vicinity, Togean and Banggai Islands; with an Indonesian distribution from Papua to Sumatra. Anambas and Natuna Archipelago
